MESSAGES OF SUPPORT:

On behalf of the Hillingdon Inter Faith Network, I  would like you to know that we fully support you and the actions you are taking  in preparing for Sunday.

Please pass this message of support and encouragement  to the mosque leaders as appropriate.

It is sad to see the rise and actions of rightwing  groups who want to destroy our society.

We really hope that Sunday will be a  'non-event'.

Please let me know if there is anything that the  Hillingdon Inter Faith Network can offer in way of assistance.

Duncan
(Duncan Struthers, chair Hillingdon Inter Faith  Network)

I wanted to offer my support for the mosque for tomorrow. I am deeply saddened that the extremist protestors are again choosing to come to Harrow to incite hatred and misunderstanding.

I would also like to thank you for all the efforts the mosque made last time, and is making this time, to keep the situation calm. The mosque's attitude is something we can all be proud of in Harrow.

I understand the Anti-Racist Alliance have organised a candle-lit vigil tomorrow, but that the recommendation is that we do not attend - as the police will have a challenging enough job of policing as it is, and want numbers kept to a minimum where possible. I therefore am respecting this request, but instead want to offer my very best wishes to the mosque and its members.

If there is any way I can help in the future, please let me know.

Dr Rachel Joyce
Conservative Parliamentary Candidate, Harrow West

Respected Brothers/Sisters,  Assalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah Wa
Barakatahu,This is to show our support of unity for the Harrow Mosque
complex, worshippers, police authorities plus the diverse community of Harrow
and surrounding areas-not only for 13ThDec ,BUT for years to come.

Wasalaam,
Nisar Deen, Rashida Deen

We the undersigned strongly oppose plans by "Stop the Islamisation of
Europe" and the "English Defence League" - a group linked to the fascist BNP
- to demonstrate against Harrow Central Mosque on Sunday December 13th.

These groups are trying to provoke and intimidate Muslim people by
organising a protest against a mosque and linking this protest to false
allegations about Sharia law. Islamophobia - bigotry against Muslims - is as
unacceptable as any other form of racism. Their aim is to divide us by
making scapegoats of one community, just as the Nazis did with the Jews in
the 1930s.

Today they threaten the mosque, tomorrow it could be a synagogue, temple or
church. Today they threaten Muslims, tomorrow it could be Jews, Hindus,
Sikhs, blacks, gays, travellers or Eastern Europeans.

There is no place for, Racism, Islamophobia, the EDL or the Nazi BNP in
Harrow's multi-racial, multi-cultural and multi-religious community.

Bishop of Willesden and Deputy Bishop of London

I am aware that SIOE are intending on holding a protest outside your  mosque tomorrow (Sunday), and while I will in no way be attending any form of mis-judged counter protest, I would just like to write and say modern, liberal, and socially cohesive Islam will always have my support.

I have read your press statement regarding the protests and think you have taken a highly mature and responsible position.  I had an argument with UAF activists in Harrow today because they are (as I'm sure you are aware) organising a counter protest, despite your protestations.

Unfortunately I have no doubt that violence will flare tomorrow, although of course I hope I am wrong.  UAF have a nasty habit of doing more bad  than good.

Anyway, once again, I just wanted to commend you on your stance, and your efforts towards building a more tolerant society.  Know that for all  the racist bigots, muslim extremists and left-wing thugs that will inevitably sully Harrow tomorrow, there are many many more people who respect and appreciate the values of freedom of speech, freedom to practice religion,
democracy, and peace.

Peace and goodwill to you,
I hope tomorrow is as quiet as possible,

Kind regards,
David Grocott, Harrow resident

I am attaching a copy of the message with the credentials which we have sent
to the participants for the vigil outside the Mosque on Sunday 13 December.

We have made two banners with the slogan:" Harrow Community For Peace And
Harmony" with our ARA logo. These banners will be put outside the railing.

I hope it is OK with the Mosque, as this will explain what our vigil is for
and exemplify the support from the Harrow community.

Our steward will be checking the credentials of the invited vigil
participants. Our steward and I will arrive at 12.45pm so we can meet the
Mosque stewards and the Police.

We sincerely hope that everything goes peacefully.

Support Your Mosque

Following the anti-Mosque demonstrations in Harrow on the 11th September, all political parties have come together to develop the Harrow Declaration of Unity.

The Declaration makes a clear statement about the unity that exists between all communities who live and work in Harrow, the strength and integrity of people in the borough and their rejection of those who try to bring division or hatred in to the Borough.

The Harrow Declaration of Unity was adopted at the full Council meeting that took place on Thursday 29th October 2009.

The Leaders of all three political parties; Councillor David Ashton, Councillor Bill Stephenson and Councillor Chris Noyce were the first to show their support by signing the declaration.

Join us in celebrating Harrows unity by signing the Unity Declaration online:
