The Reality of Life

The Reality of Life

"Allah guides to His Light whom He wills."  (Surah Nur)

Bismillah-ir Rahman-ir Raheem

Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) said in Surah Hadid (20), speaking about the reality of the dunya:

Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children - like the example of a rain whose [resulting] plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries and you see it turned yellow; then it becomes [scattered] debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion.

This is the reality of dunya!

No one can see this reality, even those who expound on its reality in actuality work hard for this dunya.  Even those who urge not to chase dunya, they will, on certain occasions based on circumstance, find exception.

When speaking to Sidi Shaykh Hamid (rehmatullah alaih), I once asked him that we always mention dunya and its temporal and abased nature, and Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) describes this for us in the Qur’an, but is there anything that can make this clear?  Syedina Shaykh Hamid (rehmatullah alaih) said: “You can see the true reality of this dunya only after you leave it!  However, if you want to see the reality of this dunya while you are alive, look at people you know who died; look at those who loved them and see how they leave them whey they are buried. You see people walk away from those they loved and forget about them. Remember the same dunya that Hamid and Faid talk about will not leave them to themselves.  The reality will become clearer if you orient your entire life to Allah (subhana wa ta'ala).  He is the only One who does not forget you!  He is the One we rely on, and He is the All Powerful and the Ever-Lasting!”

To those whom I love, may we:

Breathe by LA ILAHA ILLALLAH!

In times of pain, say ALHAMDULILAH!

Wonder by SUBHANALLAH!

Admonish ourselves by ASTAGHFIRULLAH!

Begin by BISMILLAH!

Be happy by sending SALAWAT UPON SYEDI (SALLALLAHU ALAYHI WASALAM)!

And end by ALHAMDULILAH!

May Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) be pleased by you and I, and may He gather us always with Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasalam).

Allahumma salli alaa Syedina Muhammad wa alaa Aali Syedina Muhammad, fi kulli lamhatin wa nafasin ‘adada maa wa see-a-hu ‘ilmu-LLAH
